The Eastern Tavern is a free game, made by one person for friends and for anyone who wants a seat. By playing you accept these few rules.
Free to play, as it is. Playing costs nothing and comes with no promise: it can have bugs, be down for a while, change, or one day close. We do our best to keep it running and fair.
Your account is optional and for you alone. Keep your password to yourself. If you are under 16, ask a parent before you make one. You can delete it any time in your profile.
Play fair. No cheating, no editing the page to change a match, no bots that play for you online, no attacks on the server. Every client checks every turn, and cheaters are banned.
Be decent. No hateful, sexual or threatening names or messages, no harassment, no pretending to be someone else. Bad words are masked; worse can get you banned.
Bans can be for a few days or for good, on an account, a name or an address, at the maker’s judgement. If you think a ban is a mistake, write to us.
What you write (your name, your messages, your bug reports) is yours; you let the game store and show it so it can work.
Progress on The Long Road lives in your browser: clearing your browser data or changing device can lose a run in progress, your Ledger and your card backs.
The game’s art, music, voices, story and code belong to its maker. Sharing screenshots and videos of your games is welcome.

The Early Supporter pack is the only thing for sale: optional, cosmetic only (a badge, a frame, a card back, gold card corners), no advantage in any fight. It is paid once through Stripe and delivered to your account at once, which ends the 14-day right of withdrawal; if something goes wrong with a payment, write to us.
Changes: these terms can change as the game grows; the date below says when they last did.
1. Who we are and what this is
easterntavern.com and the game The Eastern Tavern (the "Game") are run by VELDESIGN WEB SOLUTIONS SRL, a company registered in Romania, tax code (CUI) 37938405, Trade Register no. J2017011980407 (EUID ROONRC.J2017011980407), registered office Str. Mircea Vulcănescu nr. 94, Corp C, Ap. 1, Sector 1, 010825 Bucharest, Romania ("we", "us"). Email: info@easterntavern.com. The company is not registered for VAT. These Terms are an agreement between you and us. By opening the Game, making an account or playing, you accept them and our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.
2. Who can play
Anyone can play The Long Road and online matches as a guest. To make an account you must be at least 13; if you are under 16 (or the age of digital consent where you live), a parent or guardian must agree. You must not use the Game if the law where you live forbids it.
3. Your account
One person, one account. Do not share, sell or lend it, and keep your password and login safe; what happens under your account is your responsibility.
Your player name must follow the rules in section 5. We may change a name that breaks them.
You can delete your account any time in your profile. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms (section 6).
4. Your licence to play
We give you a personal, free, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Game in a web browser for your own enjoyment. You may not copy, sell, rent, re-host, frame or reverse-engineer the Game or its content to make your own product, scrape it, or use automated programs to play online matches for you. Streaming, recording and sharing screenshots or videos of your games is welcome, also on monetised channels, as long as you do not pretend to be us.
5. How to behave
No cheating: no editing the page or its network messages, no exploiting bugs on purpose, no automated play online, no working with other players to rig a match. Every player's game checks every turn, and confirmed cheating is banned.
No abuse: no hateful, sexual, violent or threatening names or messages, no harassment, stalking, spam, impersonation, or sharing other people's private data.
No attacks on the site, its server, its accounts or its players: no hacking, overloading, phishing or malware.
If you find a bug or a cheat, tell us through "Report a bug" instead of using it.
6. Bans and enforcement
If you break these Terms we may warn you, change your name, remove messages, or ban an account, a player name or an address, for a few days or for good, at our judgement and in proportion to what happened. A banned player's seat in a running match is played by a bot. If you think a decision is wrong, write to info@easterntavern.com and a person will look at it again.
7. What you send us
Your player name, messages and bug reports stay yours. You allow us to store, show and process them as far as the Game needs (for example, showing your name to other players and your messages to your friend). Do not send anything you have no right to share.
8. The Game's content
The Game's art, music, voices, story, characters, names, code and design belong to its maker or are used with permission. The legends the road tells are old stories that belong to everyone; our telling of them is ours. The only thing you can buy is the Early Supporter pack (section 9); nothing in the Game can be traded, and badges, card backs and progress have no money value and cannot be sold or transferred.
9. The Early Supporter pack
What it is: an optional pack tied to your account: the Early Supporter badge, a gold avatar frame, the Early Supporter card back and gold corners on your minions, shown to the other players. It is cosmetic only: it gives no cards, no power and no advantage in any match or run.
Price and payment: 4.99 EUR, one payment, taxes included where they apply. Stripe may show the price in your own currency; the amount on the payment page is the one you pay. The payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. You need an account to buy it.
Delivery: the pack is added to your account as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, usually within seconds, and we email you a confirmation (what you bought, the price, the date, and that you asked for immediate delivery). Stripe also sends its own receipt. If the pack has not appeared within a day, write to us.
Right of withdrawal: the pack is digital content supplied at once. Before you pay you ask for it to be delivered right away and confirm that you then lose your 14-day right of withdrawal (EU Directive 2011/83/EU, Art. 16(m); Romanian GEO 34/2014). This does not affect your rights if the pack is not delivered or does not work as described.
Refunds: if you were charged twice, charged by mistake, or did not get the pack, write to info@easterntavern.com within 30 days and we will put it right or refund you. A refunded payment removes the pack from your account.
For as long as the Game runs: the pack lives in your account. Deleting your account deletes the pack too (the payment record stays for the accounts, section 6 of the Privacy policy). If the Game ever closes, we will try to give notice first.
10. Progress and availability
The Game is a free, independent project and is offered "as is" and "as available". It can have bugs, be down for maintenance, lose a match or a run, change its rules and balance, or one day close; we will try to give notice of a closure. Long Road progress, settings and collections are kept in your browser and can be lost if you clear its data or change device.
11. Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost progress, or anything caused by events outside our control, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (zero if you never bought anything). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under the law of the EU country where you live.
12. Third-party services
Signing in with Google or Discord, payments through Stripe, reCAPTCHA and links to other sites are run by their owners under their own terms; we are not responsible for them.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Game grows. The date below shows the latest version; important changes will be shown in the Game. If you keep playing after a change, you accept the new Terms; if not, you can delete your account.
14. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Romanian law. If we disagree, please write to us first; most things can be settled that way. As a consumer you can also turn to the Romanian consumer authority ANPC (anpc.ro) or settle the dispute out of court through its alternative dispute resolution service (SAL). Otherwise the courts of Romania have jurisdiction, without taking away the protection and the courts you are entitled to as a consumer where you live. If a part of these Terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
